Wrapping Christmas Gifts and Gift Cards

For Christmas this year, the girls asked for some gift cards. Rather than just wrapping them and having them know what they are immediately, I opted for some fun and unusual ways to package gift cards.

One idea I saw was on Pinterest. The image didn't lead to another a website, but it did show how to use a glass canning jar filled with candies as a way to hide a gift card.

The image showed putting a toilet paper tube in the center of the jar and the gift card inside the tube. Then, the next step was to fill the outside with red and green M&Ms, and put the cover on the jar.

So, Olivia received the jar of M&Ms. She thought the candy was the gift. I told her there was something hiding in the jar.

She took a gift bag and poured the candies into it. Danny watched attentively hoping that candy would fall on the carpet. No such luck.

She reached the gift card only to encounter another challenge: the gift card was a bit challenging to get out of the narrow-mouth quart jar. I probably should have used a wide-mouth jar.

This was a way to wrap a gift card that piqued Olivia's interest, required a bit of work, and made her laugh.

Another thing we did for wrapping gifts and gift cards was to attach them to other items (e.g., book, block of wood, remote control) or add something that made a noise in a box (e.g., binder clips, spool of thread).

This threw off the guesses of the recipient and made for extra interest and laughs.

I should have taken some photos of this year's gift wrapping. It was our best year for confusing each other.

Will we do this again? Absolutely! We will need to look for some new ideas and make guessing what is in each gift even more challenging next year.

Such fun ideas for a gift card.
I was shocked to get an Amazon gift card inside of a snowflake tin in the mail this year. I have only gotten them via email before. :)
