Halloween Costumes through the Years

With Halloween only 29 days away, the girls are thinking about costumes that they would like to wear this year. At this point, Sophia is thinking about being either a Greek goddess or a cloak-wearing dark fairy. Olivia is debating about being a sheep or skunk.

As we looked back on Halloween costumes that they have worn since 2007, they definitely had favorite ones.  Sophia's favorite costumes are the ones she wore in 2007 and 2011. Olivia's favorite costume was the one she wore in 2011.

2011

Both of the costumes in 2011 were from Target. They were purchased early in the season so the girls could pick out what they liked the most.

During 2010, Sophia used a dress that she found at Family Pathways. It use to be a bridesmaid's dress. Olivia used a costume that we had on hand.

They got to wear their costumes twice - once to a party at the UU church and once on Halloween. These were the costumes they wore to the annual Halloween dinner that my mom and dad hosted each year.

During 2009, the girls simply used a mask and headdress that was used during a horse costume contest. The girls and their horses wore costumes that looked very similar to one another.

Since the competition was only a month earlier, it was easiest just to use what they wore for the costume contest.

During 2008, the girls had a wide selection of costumes into which they fit. Sophia's was made by a seamstress for a camp program I held at the farm for many years. Olivia's giraffe costume was given to her by a friend.

In 2007, the girls both enjoyed dressing up a lot. The costumes they wore for Halloween were frequently worn after the holiday for playing and dress-up.

At some point, I'd like to go back and find the photos from each of the years so that the girls can look at the costumes they wore each when they were growing up.
