Sophia embroidered a pillowcase with a horse and foal design. The supplies were all ones that we had on hand: a pillowcase, embroidery floss, and an iron-on pattern. I never have used iron-on patterns, though they were something that I wanted to try after seeing the selection at Joann's.

Sophia used the backstitch
to do her embroidered pillowcase.

Olivia enjoys doing arts and crafts - anything that lets her creatively express herself. She picked out a loom that can be used for both beading and cotton-floss weaving.

Olivia used a sewing needle to secure the beads
in place on the bracelet.

Now it's your turn! What are some fun ideas for crafting with kids?

Lovely embroidery work. Keep it going and share your tips.
Your girls did a great job on their projects....my daughter is very much into beading right now, also!! =)
Great projects. Olivia certainly is patients to sit and weave that beautiful bracelet.
When did you start her on emboridering? I'm trying to decide when to start my kids on skills like these.
They did a wonderful job!!! Your 10y old did awesome, her hand embroidery is beautiful!!! And your youngest... lovely bracelet!!! They are 2 very talented young ladies :-).
My dd show interest when she was around 1 1/2 ...
so I hooped a piece of denim to which I snipped a few holes in, tied ribbon to a piece of a wooden clothespin (that was her neede) and she had fun embroidering ;-).
After a while she graduated to large size tapestry needle,
which are blunt. Now at 5 she still uses tapestry needles
but in smaller sizes.
Here is a link to a post I made not long ago on my
blog, just in case you want to take a peek ;-) :
