Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub

Some time ago, I pinned a recipe on Pinterest for Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub. Now that cucumbers and mint are readily available at the farmers market, I thought I'd try it.

The pin links to Bella Limento and is an easy-to-make scrub that uses only four ingredients:

1 large cucumber
2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves
2 1/2 cups granulated sugar (I used 3 1/2 cups of sugar)
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

To make the sugar scrub, first place the peeled cucumber and mint into a blender. (I used our Vita-Mix Mixer.) Puree.

Into a medium bowl add: sugar, the puree, and olive oil. Stir until combined.

The original recipe said that if you prefer the mixture more firm to add additional sugar. So, I added another cup of sugar.

The mixture is still on liquidy-side, but it was a consistency that was fine to use.

I tried it on both Sophia and me. Below is what the scrub looks like on Sophia's arm before I rubbed it in.

Once the scrub is rubbed in, the skin turns a light shade of red.

Although the oil is probably absorbed into the skin, the rest of the ingredients stay above the skin.

When we were done, we rinsed off our arms and hands. Both of us felt like our skin was much smoother.

There is still quite a bit of the Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub left in the refrigerator. We both want to use it again - perhaps on legs and feet next - so we can see if there's a difference just like we felt on our arms.

Those oil and sugar scrubs or even the oil and salt scrubs really make my hands feel smooth as silk. If you suffer from dryness in the winter now you have something all prepared! :)
