As I was taking pictures of the cup of hot chocolate, it look so plain and unappealing. Thought if I added something on the top it might create a bit more visual interest. Looking in the cupboard, I found a jar of crushed Oreo cookies and confectioners sugar. (I had thought about using baking cocoa, but that would have been too bitter for me to drink.)

A long time ago, I found a recipe for a frugal hot chocolate mix that I have been using ever since. What I like about the recipe is that it can be modified and still taste delicious.
Initially, I put the creamer and confectioners sugar in the mix, but have not done that for at least a year now. There not much of a difference without these two ingredients, so I didn't see a point in including them in the mix...it was just an added expense.
Ingredients
10 2/3 cups dry milk
6 ounces non-dairy coffee creamer
1 pound Nestle’s Quik
1/3 cup confectioners sugar
Directions
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. To use, mix ½ cup with 1 cup of hot water. Enjoy!
One of my favorite mugs for hot chocolate.

Now you have me thinking about hot chocolate! ;)
Hot chocolate with oreos?? Yes, please! =P
Looks yummy. It's actually a cold weekend (cold for us) here in Florida. Hot chocolate might just hit the spot. Nice photo.
